Altar Memorial Program

Altar flowers have been a tradition in our church and brighten our sanctuary as we come to worship.  In order to continue this tradition of floral arrangements in our sanctuary, The Board of Deacons has established an Altar Memorial Program.    

The Altar Memorial Program offers families and friends the opportunity to donate a tax-deductible memorial
gift or floral arrangement.  The donation or arrangement can be dedicated in honor of a loved one, friend, or special event.  An acknowledgement of the donor/memory of the person(s)/event being remembered will be placed in our weekly church bulletin.

For your convenience, the Altar Memorial Donations Calendar (signup sheet) and Altar Donations Forms are on the bulletin board outside of the Pastor’s Office.  You will need to fill out a separate form for each Sunday you choose to make an Altar Donation or give a flower arrangement.  The form provides you with three options for providing the flowers.
  1. Option #1 – Altar Donation to the Endowment Funds – please send a check to the First Congregational Church.  Send the check to the church Attention: Deacons, and write “Altar Donation” in the memo line.  The Deacons will make arrangements to place a single rose (at the cost of approximately $8.00) on the        altar in memory of your loved one.  The balance of the check will be deposited in our Endowment Fund.
  2. Option #2 – Deacons arrange for flowers – please send a check for $35 made payable to The First Congregational Church.  Send the check to the church Attention: Deacons (write “altar flowers” in the           memo line) for each floral memorial.  The Deacons will then contact a local florist who will provide and deliver to the church the altar flower arrangement.  You may specify colors, and the florist will try to accommodate your request based on availability. 
  3. Option #3 – You provide the flowers – you may provide the flowers from your own garden or the florist  of your choice.  Please be certain that you personally bring the flowers to the church by 9:00am on Sunday morning.  Please do not call the florist of your choice and request delivery to the church as there is no one    at the church to accept deliver.

Orders need to be received two weeks prior to the date requested and paid for once confirmation of the date is received.  Orders can be placed by sending an email to Cynthia Childs at cchilds_rindge@yahoo.com and payments can be mailed to The First Congregational Church of Rindge;  Attention: Deacons.  A response email will be sent to the prospective donor acknowledging receipt and confirmation of the availability of the date. Orders will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

During Lent and Christmas, you will continue to have the opportunity to make an Altar Donation or purchase
lilies or poinsettias for the services.  The Deaconer and Weekly bulletin publish details during the season (prices may vary for these).

Barbara Wells and Marie and David Marr have faithfully attended to the altar arrangements for many years.
The Board of Deacons would like to extend their sincere thanks to them for their many years of supplying
flowers for worship services.
