25th Anniversary Monadnock Area CropWalk
October 26, 2002
October 26, 2002 marked the 25th AnniversaryMonadnock Area CropWalk.  Under cold and rainy conditions, 118 walkers made the 6.5 mile trek from the Rindge Common to the United Church of Jaffrey.  Almost $11,000 has been raised to date.

The United Church of Jaffrey and the First Congregational Church and Society of Rindge worked together to host this year's walk.

CropWalks are held annually as the major fund raising program of Church World Service, the relief ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations.  CWS works in more than 80 countries meeting emergency needs and aiding and resettling refugees.  The organization also supports self-help development and works to address the root causes of poverty around the world.

One quarter of the money raised by each CropWalk is returned to local hunger agencies.  In the Monadnock Region, these agencies include: St. Vincent de Paul Society in New Ipswich, the Peterborough Human Services Department, the S.K.I.P. program and food pantries in Hancock, Antrim, Jaffrey, Greenfield and Rindge.
It took a large team of energetic souls to make this event a success. As chair of this year's walk I would like to express thanks to all the walkers, their sponsors, the Town of Jaffrey, the Town of Rindge and to everyone who donated goods, services and time to this wonderful project.

With thanks,
Liz Littlefield
