Minutes for Annual Meeting: March 2, 2008

Roll call by Margaret Morabito, Church Council Clerk for 2007. The meeting commenced at 11:30am. Thirty-four were present for roll call, which exceeded the minimum of 28 needed for a quorum. Favorite Bible passages were spoken by various members. The opening prayer was given by Pastor Jim. The meeting was called to order by Janet Goodrich, Church Council Moderator for 2007.

There were four articles for consideration and all were approved, as follows:

Article I To hear and act upon all reports of Officers and Committees.

Motion was made to approve; seconded; discussion was led by Sue Campbell. Article I was approved.

Article II To choose all necessary Officers and Committee Members for their delegated teams.

Motion was made to approve; seconded; discussion was led by Sue Campbell, who thanked everyone who served in 2007 and mentioned the need for a public relations person. Article II was approved.

Article III To adopt the budget for the Fiscal Year 2008

Motion was made to approve; seconded; discussion was led by Trustee Burt Goodrich regarding the 2008 budget. The proposed 2008 budget is a bare-bones “balanced” budget which is less than 2007 due to declining income from pledges and endowment. Article III was approved.

Article IV To act upon any other business that may legally come before this meeting.

Motion was made to approve; seconded; discussion ensued. Two items were presented:

1. Trustee Burt Goodrich highlighted the excellent service provided to our church by retiring Sexton of 14 years, Mary Jane Sawyer, and retiring Secretary of three years, Steve Henrikson. Our church has succeeded because of the good works of our members. Mary Jane and Steve were presented with flowers.

2. Sue Chatwin presented the “Salt of the Earth Award” to Jane Hannon. Jane was in attendance and received the award. Congratulations, Jane!

Article IV was approved.

Motion was made to adjourn; seconded; no discussion; approved. The meeting was adjourned at noon.
