Some Additional Information and Pictures From 2009

The Men's Club of our church has been around a lot longer than 50 years, but we've only found records
about putting
on Roast Beef Supper events since 1960.

It's a fundraiser, of course.   The money raised goes to support good causes ... we
support the community, the local  food pantry,  send kids to camp, sponsor a
Boy Scout
Troop ... and things like that.

But, doing good doesn't change the fact that these suppers are at least as much about FUN
as they are about eating.  An awful lot of work, yes; but fun, too.  Fun for the
perpertrators (us), and fun for the folks who come to dinner.

Want proof?  Then take a look at
these photos and judge for yourself.

Peeling potatoes on the day before

Men's Club Suppers ???   Misnomer, maybe.

Waste not, want not.  All the peelings will go for compost.

Still Friday.  Ken takes a 10 sec break.

After the carrots come the potatoes.

Still Friday, and now let's set up the hall.

On Saturday, last minute preparations.

The gathering.

Ready to serve.  Norman's thrilled.

Mashed potatoes, coming up.

The kitchen crew is armed and ready to go.

Table servers are at work, too.

In the kitchen, everybody has assignments.

Charlie's got this pot ready for the next batch
of mashed potatoes.

Any moment now, and the show begins.

Outside the Meeting House the line grows.

And then the folks are shown to their tables.

Well, where's the food?

First the salad, folks.

The house is packed, even on the stage.

Back in the kitchen, Charlie's waiting
for the next big pot.

Where's the beef?  Here it is, and being sliced.

Overflow folks have a side room, very elegant.

Would you believe?  After serving two crowds (about
300 people) the workers get to eat, too.

Rick (Chief Cook and Bottlewasher) eats too, and you
can bet he's more than ready after all that work!

In fact, we all get to eat.

And, to conclude a truly wonderful day, what do we see out the back door as we wrap up our chores?
God's grand rainbow, just to remind us who we're all really working for!
